Major renovations have "much improved" this Downtown "standard of old Las Vegas" that's now run by Landry's Restaurants; "large" rooms, some with views of the Spring Mountain range, are "fabulous", the staff is "efficient" and there's a refurbished spa, salon and fitness center, a revamped showroom and a $30-million, three-story pool with a 200,000-gallon shark tank; though "away from the noise of the strip", there's still "plenty to do" from the "fun" Fremont Street to the on-site dining (there's a Vic & Anthony's Steakhouse and the post-Survey addition of Italian restaurant Grotto).

Great location, clean & comfortable rooms.
The buffet did not meet our expectations for the price.

The rooms was excellent for the rate charged. Most of the staff was friendly. The buffet wasn't all that good for the price. The location on Fremont Street was great.

Very nice.
Had to pay for Internet - very expensive.

Great hotel, but if you need to web surf for a rest or review - be prepared to pay $15 for your information.

Comfortable, great location for our trip this time. Check in was easy.
Popcorn ceilings in the rooms, could use a larger shower.

Gorgeous room and great location.

Hotel combined good downtown location with high end accommodations. We were a group of 3 couples and only planned to stay one night before moving on to Laughing. We upgraded to the new Rush Tower and then were upgraded for free to Junior Suites. Beds were comfortable with very high end bedding and fixtures. Wished we had stayed longer and would definitely go again. ...read more

Location, price, quality.
Slots were extremely tight - went over to other casinos to gamble.

The Golden Nugget is a good clean hotel to stay in. We found the beds to be extremely comfortable and quiet, but the slots were extremely tight. The swimming pool is heated and open all year long, but the winter air was too cold, so no one was swimming. We were going to use the exercise room which is small with limited equipment, but were disappointed to find there is a fee associated with it so didn't bother. ...read more

Pool area, close to Fremont Street.
Smoke smell, just can't get away from it in Vegas I guess.

Location makes it a shoe in if you're looking for a hotel in old Las Vegas. The room is actually pretty big, and the king bed was nice. If it weren't for the pool area, it wouldn't be 4-star in my book though. Too many people wanting to bug me about a timeshare rather than offer real service. ...read more

Nice and clean rooms. Awesome pool.
The buffet was overpriced for the quality.

This was my first stay downtown Vegas. Great hotel, staff was very friendly and helpful.
